The project is being coordinated by Zilma Reis, Professor in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the Faculty of Medicine of UFMG. The product is a result of the Newborn Skin-age Project, sponsored by the Bill &amp; Melinda Gates Foundation and Fapemig. The goal is to be a technological innovation focused on the challenge of reducing immediate and future complications related to premature birth, the main cause of death in low- and middle-income countries, and disabling health conditions in high-income countries.
